The picturesque Austrian Weinviertel region, offers cultural heritages, lush vineyards, and delightful gastronomic experiences. In this blog post, we will recount a day of exploration that led us to some of the interesting places to explore there. Like the exploration trail of Schreiber Baumschule or the Schreiber Saftladen where we found a selection of delicious regional products. We also made a stop at Weingut Neusifter for a fantastic lunch and concluded with a captivating tour and wine tasting at Hofkellerei Fürst Liechtenstein in Wilfersdorf.

The Apricot Enjoyment Trail

Our day started with the apricot enjoyment trail around Poysdorf which offers exciting insights and information into the apricot culture and its importance for the region. Moreover, it gave us insights into the passion of the Schreiber family for the cultivation of that delicious fruit.

The air was fragrant with the scent of growing fruits and fresh earth. The tree nursery was a vibrant display of diverse flora, offering a glimpse into the rich biodiversity of the region. We marveled at the beauty of ornamental trees and plants, gaining insights into the local horticulture. You can do a long or shorter trail by foot or by bike and it is also children, and stroller-friendly.

Schreibers Fruit & Juiceshop

There are several stops on the trail like the fruit orchard or the Schreibers Obst & Saftladen. At the “Obst & Saftladen” we found delectable freshly squeezed juices, jams, and other products of the region’s harvest. It`s the perfect spot to try regional delicacies and buy souvenirs to take home.

Lunch at Hotel & Restaurant Neustifter

Afterwards, we had lunch at Hotel & Restaurant Neustifter of Weingut Neustifter. In a warm ambiance with a mesmerizing view, they offer delicious organic dishes. Most of their vegetables are grown in their own garden and they use products from their own organic farm. And if you want, they pair your meal with Neutsifter`s finest wines, carefully curated to compliment the menu.

Hofkellerei of the Prince of Liechtenstein

In the afternoon we visited the court winery of the “Fürsten of  Lichtenstein” in Wilfersdorfwhich was an experience of its own. On the “wein.gut.schauen” tour we took a look behind the interesting scenes of the wine cellar in Wilfersdorf. Steeped in history and elegance, this estate showcased the opulence of Austrian winemaking.

A guided tour through the cellars and the press house illuminated the winemaking process, and a wine tasting in the beautiful tasting room allowed us to savor the finest wines, each sip embodying centuries of tradition.

Conclusion

Exploring the Austrian Weinviertel is a journey through a tapestry of nature, culture, and gastronomy. The sights, flavors, and aromas we experienced were a testament to the region's dedication to preserving its heritage while embracing the future of regional production and winemaking.
